Eating Organically this Summer: Vegetables, Fruits, Seeds and Whole Grain

With summer fast approaching, street markets are springing up all across the country offering locals an abundance of choices to purchase fresh grown organic fruits and vegetables. Organic foods have long been undermined in favor of the “ one stop, quick shop” of fast food enterprises. However the health benefits of organic foods are aplenty. Various ( organic) foods are rich in nutrients and vitamins that you cannot find in a capsule of mulitvitamin, and many are rich in antioxidants that help in detoxing and cleansing the body. A list of foods include:

Fruits

The phrase “ An apple a day ” is true. Fruits are high in water content, vitamins and fiber. They are easy to digest and are high in antioxidants. Particular fruits such as bananas and oranges are high vitamin C.

Stock up on: Apples, Bananas, Oranges, Kiwis, Berries

Raw/ Green Vegetables

Vegetable are rich with chlorophyll that boost your digestion. They are rich in fiber and various greens aid the liver in detoxification.

Stock up on: broccoli, cabbage, kale, spinach, alfalfa, asparagus, garlic, beet, cauliflower, tomatoes

Organic ( whole) grains

Grains has been around for ages since mankind first began agriculture and cultivation. The benefits of grains extends beyond health benefits. They are high in dietary fiber, b vitamins ( folic acid, thiamin, riboflavin and niacin) and rich in iron. Grains such as oats have been known to reduce high cholesterol and promote a healthy immune system.

Raw Seeds and Nuts

Raw nuts and seeds are rich in omega-3 oils and may prevent coronary heart diseases.

Stock up on: flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts, sesame seeds, Brazilian nuts

Promoting a healthy habit of amassing a sensible dietary habit is important of keeping one’s body healthy. In conclusion, having a selection of a variety of foods can prove to be a beneficial investment to one’s health and body.
