Jordin Sparks’ Battlefield Tour 2010 is a major success – selling our arenas coast-to-coast! The 2009 Grammy Nominee, has served as the opening act for such mega stars as – Alicia Keys, Jesse McCartney, the Jonas Brothers & Britney Spears…yet this new tour gives her a chance to proudly strut her stuff, flirt with the audience and declare her independence. Adding to the success of the tour is Sparks’ slender svelte new body.
We were introduced to Sparks as an American Idol winner in 2007 – where she was the youngest winner at 17 years old. Known as the cuveous contestant – Sparks embraced her body in lieu of backlash from MeMe Roth, self-appointed head of her own political action group – the National Action Against Obesity (http://blisstree.com/feel/is-winner-jordin-sparks-too-fat-to-be-the-american-idol-115). Roth declared Sparks as over-weight and predicted a sea of health challenges in her future. Sparks took the high road – stating that Roth and others should “just get over it” in May 2007 issue of Us Magazine. Since that time – the rigorous workout from touring forced Sparks to drop pounds. At 5’ 10” – Sparks went from a plus-size 16 to 10. In addition to the weight loss and successful tour
Sparks will join the cast of the Tony Award-winning Broadway show “In the Heights” as Nina Rosario from August 19 through November 14.
So the big question – how did Sparks drop the pounds? According to Tampa Bay – Personal Best article which launched her “Body By Milk” campaign – (http://blogs.tampabay.com/health/2009/09/jordin-sparks-drops-weight-gets-a-milk-mustache.html) Sparks does not credit any ‘quick fix’ to the weight lost. “I know that I am in charge of what I eat and drink and my choices affect how I look and feel,” she says in a press release. “I skip the sugary beverages and reach for milk instead. Milk is full of important nutrients and is something I feel good about putting into my body. “
According to New York City Health Bulletin Weight Loss Tip – the process is as simple as following these 10 steps. However, the key – don’t rush the weight loss process.
1. Take your time
Aim to lose 1 -2 pounds a week. People who lose weight faster are more likely to gain it back. Don’t be tempted by ‘fad’ diets & drugs. They don’t work for long and some are dangerous.
2. Pay attention to what you eat and drink
Keep a daily food diary for a while. Most people eat out of habit and are unaware of how much they consume.
3. Watch your empty-beverage calories
One regular can of soda has about 150 EMPTY calories. Drink water & unsweetened tea rather than regular soda and sugar-sweetened drinks.
4. Prepare more meals at home
It’s easier to know and control what you eat when you prepare your own food. Plus, home-cooked meals are healthier.
5. Choose carefully when eating out
When you do eat out – watch out for large portions. Split an order or take half home.
6. Eat more fruits and veggies
They keep you healthy and fill you up on very few calories.
7. Feel full on fewer calories
Choose high-fiber foods that fill you up: fruits, veggies, beans, lentils and whole grain cereals, breads and pasta. Drink plenty of water – at least 8 glasses a day.
8. Choose healthier snacks
Try pretzels, low-fat popcorn or frozen yogurt.
9. Don’t skip breakfast
People who eat breakfast lose weight easier.
10. Get moving
Get at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity, such as a brisk walk, at least 5 days a week.
You won’t see fast results but at least the results will be lasting. As with Sparks – her weight lost took time but she’s maintaining the slender svelte body!
