Falling for Foundation – FIT by Maybelline – Modamee Review

Not ever really having blemished skin, I didn’t findĀ  it necessary to wear foundation or cover up. So many girls in high school and college, even middle school, caked on the foundation to hide their blemishes; it only accentuated them and made them look ridiculous.

When I got to college, I did use inexpensive Maybelline cream cover up just to add a little glam to my night and make me feel like I was completely transformed into this mature beauty. As an aspiring actress in my mid-twenties, cover up was essential. There could not be a blemish anywhere and peaches and cream skin was what casting directors wanted to see. They at leastĀ  wanted to see that you could take care of your skin and present yourself in a clean light.

My go to foundation was The Body Shop’s 4-in-1 face base in #4; it made me look radiant but at twenty dollars a compact, I knew I needed to find something just as great but a little more cost effective. I tried other inexpensive face bases; some made me look like a ghost while others made me look like I was wearing foundation. Then, I was reading Marie Claire and I found it…the new love of my life.

I’d like to introduce the world to FIT me! by Maybelline New York. Their slogan is “don’t cover me FIT ME; flawless that lets the real you come through.” I was immediately drawn to it. Then I continued to read the ad that said “BEYOND MATCHING, SKIN THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE: FRESH, BREATHING, NATURAL.” The breathing part was epic to me because all these foundations promise to let your skin breathe but what it really does is suffocate your fragile pores. It comes in 18 shades as well as has SPF 18, super important to avoid leather skin.

So, I went to the store, expecting to find FIT me! and have it cost an arm and a leg; it didn’t. I got it at Target for $6.99 and picking my color was super simple. I’m kind of pale but more peachy so I picked 135, Creamy Natural as my foundation and the matching powder in the cutest compact. Not only was it light and flawless, but it smelled nice and didn’t make me feel like I was wearing anything, yet I knew I was. It was a simple application and gave me incredible results. It totals, at the moment, less than $20 but is worth so much more. I always feel gullible for believing what I see in magazines but this time, I am so happy that I chose to go with what I saw because now, I love what I see.

“Maybe she’s born with it. Maybe it’s Maybelline.”
