Jessica Alba has some serious concerns that she wants people to be aware of regarding the chemicals that children and pregnant women are exposed to. She went to DC for a two-day lobbying effort on behalf of the Safe Chemicals Act. The act seeks to improve the safety of consumer products and increase public awareness about product quality.
At the press conference Alba said: “that the chemicals in our products, that are in and around our children, are safe and tested, because they’re basically untested. And our children as being used as the testing animals, so to say.”
Jessica has become very passionate about the issue of chemicals being used in children’s products. She is a spokesperson for the Safer Chemicals.
An actress said that “The thing about this issue, maybe more than other issues, is that we’re not asking for any taxpayer money. This is really changing the way businesses run their business and the way that they put their ingredients together…All the issues are bipartisan, or non-partisan, really. It’s not a political issue at all. It’s really just a humanity issue.”
Jessica has become even more involved in this campaign after the birth of her first child, Honor and now pregnant with her second child. Alba’s husband Cash Warren expressed his admiration to his wife’s work via twitter, saying: “nice work hon!! very admirable. check out @jessicaalba on capitol hill…”
