There were a lot of speculations about Angelina Jolie playing a Egyptian queen Cleopatra for a while now. But in the recent interview Angelina was sharing some information about her new movie. According to Angelina, she is not going to portray Cleopatra as the sex symbol, but more as a strong leader, a mother, and more political figure.
[Cleopatra] has been very misunderstood,” Angelina Jolie told the Telegraph. “I thought it was all about the glamour, but then I read about her and she was a very strong mother, she spoke five languages and she was a leader. My performance will never be as lovely as Elizabeth’s. We are trying to get into a different truth about her as a pharaoh in history and not as a sex symbol, because she really wasn’t. Even this idea of her having many lovers – it was possible that it was only two. She is very interesting, but she wasn’t a great beauty.”
Cleopatra was previously played by Elizabeth Taylor, who portrayed the queen as a sexy and feminine woman. Taylor was dissapointed by the outcome of the movie and her role. Hopefully, Angie is not going to regret playing the role of a Egyptian queen.
The movie is most likely going to be directed by the creator of Avatar, James Cameron and it is possible that the movie is going to be in 3D. David Fincher, the director of Social Network is also going to join Cameron in creation of the movie.
