Belfast Telegraph March 26, 2011 This week I am loving Katie Larmour. Having recently been crowned FHM Holiday Honey of 2011, as well as hosting the spring summer 2011 season of West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK in Belfast’s Europa, there is no end to this girl’s talent. Fresh-faced and vibrant, Katie (27) has a fabulously glowing complexion. Her secret? Looking after her skin so that she needs to use very little make-up.
To get Katie’s look, first prep the skin by body brushing to minimise cellulite — try the Body Shop’s body brush. Next, smooth over a light layer of fake tan. in our site medium length hair styles 2011
I love the Vita Liberata tanning pod in House of Fraser, which provides a quick lunch-time boost or after-work blitz for busy ladies on the go.
The service offers three different shades of tan: Hawaii, favoured by porcelain beauties including Erin O’Connor; Ecuador, the most popular tan; and Brazil, designed to give a deeper glow to already olive skin tones. Or do it yourself with Vita Liiberata self tan.
For the perfect skin, it is vital to choose the right moisturiser. Clarins Vital Light, the expert anti-ageing skincare product, won heaps of approval from beauty media when it was launched last year.
Inspired by the exceptional revitalising benefits of pioneer plants and formulated to help restore firmer, healthier-looking and more luminous skin, Clarins Vital Light Night and Day is a godsend for any skin type. It helps unify skin tone, makes it seem more vibrant and provides anti-pollution protection.
Katie’s make-up look is nice and natural, with pink tones around the eyes, and only a few products are needed as the focus is on the radiance of the skin.
Use a brightening primer to get Katie’s glowing look — try Benefit ‘That Gal’. Whether used under foundation or on its own, skin will glow.
For the eyes, use Clinique’s new limited-edition Pretty in Prints make-up palette of eye, cheek and lip colours. Clinique have teamed up with Michelle Smith, designer of the women’s fashion and accessories label, Milly, for this collection, which mixes rich browns with sweet pinks. Oh, and it also comes in a sleek silver compact, adorned with a Milly print.
To finish the eyes, Katie has a good helping of black eye liner in the waterline and lashings of mascara to make sure their outline stands out nicely.
Finally, the look is completed with a nude, natural lip, which complements Katie’s bronzed skin tone perfectly. No 7 Spring Limited Edition Lipstick in Grace is bang on trend and reasonably priced. this web site medium length hair styles 2011
Getting the Katie look is not all about the make-up and, as you may have noticed, one of her most striking features is her beautiful, long, glossy hair.
Since winning the coveted title of Holiday Honey, she has swapped her smooth and sleek style for something a little more flirty and voluminous.
Katie has been a regular at Michael Quinn Hairdressing on Royal Avenue, Belfast, for many years, so I asked him how he achieved her new tousled look.
“The inspiration came from Zara Martin, the MTV presenter, actress and model,” he reveals.
“I knew that Katie wanted to keep her length, so I kept a solid length throughout the back and added shape with panelling of layers around the face.
“A professional haircut is so important to achieve this style and once you have that to work with, styling the finished look will be easy.” Michael adds a spritz of Matrix Vavoom Iron-In Volume Mist to damp hair before blow drying. Then he uses a curling blow dry technique, which will bring shape and volume to the hair but also keep it smooth.
And he adds: “If you struggle with your blow dry technique, then you can achieve the same style using heated rollers. Once hair is completely dry, spray with a light hold hair spray and tousle.” CAPTION: KATIE LARMOUR CAPTION: NATURAL BEAUTY: Model Katie Larmour
